For small contractors

Get your document file ready before the inquiry.

Use this high-level checklist to gather the records Duebuckle tracks: license, insurance, bond, and continuing education. A little preparation makes it easier to explain what is current, what is coming due, and what needs a closer look.

Start with what you have.

You do not need a perfect file to begin an inquiry.

Your exact requirements may be different.

This is not verified state-specific guidance. Requirements vary by trade, location, job, agency, board, insurer, and other circumstances. Confirm current requirements and any deadlines with the relevant agency, licensing board, insurer, general contractor, property manager, or other authority.

The four-part file

What to gather

A

License

Gather the details that identify the license and its current status.

  • License or registration number, if one applies to your work.
  • Issuing agency or board and the trade or classification it covers.
  • Current expiration or renewal date, plus any notices you have received.
B

Insurance

Keep your policy information and proof of coverage together.

  • Current certificate of insurance or other proof your job contact requests.
  • Carrier, policy number, coverage dates, and the right contact for questions.
  • Any additional-insured, limits, or certificate wording requests you have been given.
C

Bond

Have bond records ready so you can confirm what is active and when it ends.

  • Bond type, number, amount, and the surety or issuing provider.
  • Effective and expiration dates, when those dates are shown on your records.
  • The contractor, project, agency, or job contact the bond is connected to.
D

Continuing education

Collect course and completion records that may support your renewal file.

  • Course names, providers, completion dates, and certificates or transcripts.
  • The trade, license, or renewal period each record relates to, if known.
  • Any outstanding course reminders or notices that still need your attention.

03 · Before you reach out

Turn your folder into a useful starting point.

Duebuckle is intended to help organize information and coordinate next steps. It does not make government, licensing, insurer, approval, filing, or renewal decisions, and it does not replace the authority that sets or reviews your requirements.

  1. Collect what you already have in one folder, including renewal notices and proof documents.

  2. Note the dates, issuing organizations, and open questions that need follow-up.

  3. Use the inquiry form to tell Duebuckle what you would like organized or discussed.
